Most of us tend to underestimate the time required to do a job well. Writing well isn’t difficult, but it does require a certain degree of skill. It’s not enough to scribble words on a page or pound text into a keyboard. Writing well requires thorough research and thoughtful analysis. You have to understand the subject you’re writing about, but you also have to understand the needs of your readers.

Certain phrases are so memorable they have become embedded in human consciousness. Some are sacred; others are sacrilegious. Some are somber; others are silly. They all have something in common. If you want your words to be remembered, or at least to move people to action, it pays to analyze a few examples.
